مصر: تعد مصر من الدول الأفريقية التي تحظى بمكانة كبيرة في قارة أفريقيا، وتعد مصر مهد الحضارات في منطقة الشرق الأوسط، ويعتبر نهر النيل شريان حياة رئيسي في مصر، وتقع مصر في شمال شرق قارة أفريقيا.
السودان: السودان إحدى دول أفريقيا وإحدى الدول التي يمر بها نهر النيل، وتقع في شمال شرق قارة أفريقيا، والخرطوم عاصمة السودان هي نقطة التقاء النيل الأزرق والنيل الأبيض.
أوغندا: إحدى دول حوض النيل، وتقع شرق أفريقيا، وبها بحيرتي فيكتوريا وألبرت، اللتان يعدان رافدان أساسيان لنهر النيل، ويبلغ د سكان أوغندا 34.51 مليون نسمة.
كينيا: من الدول الأفريقية الجميلة التي تشتهر بالمناظر الطبيعية، والمحميات البرية، في الشمال يحدها جنوب السودان وإثيوبيا، ومن الجنوب تنزانيا، ومن الشرق الصومال، والمحيط الهندي، ومن الغرب بحيرة فيكتوريا، وأوغندا.
إثيوبيا: تعد من الدول الأفريقية التي يمر بها نهر النيل، عاصمتها ومركزها الرئيسي أديس أبابا.
إريتريا: من دول حوض النيل، وهي دولة صغيرة في أفريقيا، يحدّها من الشرق والشمال الشرقي البحر الأحمر، ومن الجنوب إثيوبيا، ومن الجنوب الشرقي جيبوتي، ومن الغرب السودان.
الكونغو: هي من الدول الأفريقية التي تقع غرب ووسط أفريقيا، الجزء الشمالي من الكونغو ينمو فيه الغابات، والجزء الجنوبي الذي تنمو فيه السافانا، ويتحدث مواطنو الكونغو لغة البانتو.
تنزانيا: هي من الدول الأفريقية التي تقع في منطقة الشمال الشرقي من قارة أفريقيا، تضم جبل كليمنجارو، ويبلغ طوله 5.895 متر.
بوروندي: تقع دولة بوروندي في الجزء الشرقي من قارة أفريقيا، تعد أصغر دول أفريقيا، تبلغ مساحتها 25.650 كيلومتر مربع، وتشترك في حدودها مع جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية.
رواندا: من الدول الأفريقية التي يمر بها نهر النيل، تقع رواندا على هضبة شرق أفريقيا، وتبلغ مساحتها 26.338 كيلومتر مربع، تتكون رواندا من أعشاب السافانا، وتحتوي على غابة استوائية واحدة فقط.
جنوب السودان: استقلت جنوب السودان عن السودان، عام 2011، بعد اندلاع حرب أهلية دامت لأكثر من ست سنوات، راح ضحيتها الملايين، وتبلغ مساحةُ الدولة 644.329 كيلومتر مربع.

_لنهر النيل مكانة عظيمة في مصر، وتحصل مصر على 87 في المئة من حاجاتها المائية من النهر، حيث يقل سقوط الأمطار على مصر، بينما يكثر سقوط الأمطار على البحر المتوسط ومنطقة شبه جزيرة سيناء.
_نهر النيل يمر عبر ست دول يعدوا من أفقر دول العالم، يعيش في حوضه حوالي 300 مليون نسمة أغلبهم في مناطق ريفية.
منابع نهر النيل
دول منابع النيل الأبيض تتمتع بوجود 5 بحيرات عظمى زاخرة بالمياه العذبة، بحيرة فيكتوريا وحدها في منابع النيل الأبيض تحتوي على أكثر من 1680 مليار متر مكعب، ونصف هذا الرقم نجده في بحيرة البرت بالإضافة إلى مليارات عديدة من مياه بحيرات إدوارد وجورج وكايوجا.
نهر النيل يحصل مياهه من على أربع مصادر منها الموسمي وأخرى دائمة، وهم:
النيل الأزرق له الكمية الأكبر بمدة نهر النيل بنسبة 59% من الإيراد.
نهر السوباط يمد النيل نسبة 14%.
بينما يمد نهر عطبرة النيل الرئيسي بنسبة 13%.
أما بحر الجبل يمد نهر النيل بنسبة 14%.
