من الأمور التي حرص الدين الإسلامي على التأكيد عليها، هي الإحسان في الاختيار اسم المولود، لأن المولود يكون له نصيب من اسمه، لذلك يجب الاحسان في اختيار الاسم، وهناك شروط وضعها الإسلام لعملية اختيار الاسم منها:
_ ألا يكون اسم المولود يحمل معنى يوحي بالشرك مع الله.
_ ألا يكون الاسم ينم على معاني الكذب والنميمة والخداع.
_ يجب أن تحرص على أن يكون اسم ابنك لا يحمل اسم من أسماء المشركين بالله، أو محرفًا بأي حال من الأحوال.
_ ألا يشير الاسم إلى معاني التكبر والعلو بشكل مبالغ فيه.
_ ألا يحمل الاسم معاني ضمنية تشير إلى معنى العبودية لغير الله تعالى.
_ لا يجوز شرعًا أن نأخذ اسم من ديانات أخرى.
_ كما يجب ألا يكون الاسم مشتمل على معاني تنافي الشريعة.
