في أحد الأيام كان هناك طاووسًا يتباهى بمظهره الجميل كثيرًا. حيث أن كل الحيوانات كانت تحسده على جمال ريشه وحُسن مظهره. وفي يوم ما فكر الطاووس أن يغني لكي لا يبعد أحد نظره عن أبدًا. وأن يتطلعوا ليكونوا مثله أو شبيهين به.
وما أن بدأ بالغناء اكتشف أن صوته خشن ولم يتقبله أحد. ولأول مرة يواجه الطاووس العديد من الانتقادات. فقد كان الجميع يراه كاملًا بلا عيوب إلى أن فكر بالغناء حينها اكتشف الجميع أن صوته ليس جميلًا أبدًا وجميعهم ذهبوا من حوله.
ظل الطاووس يبكي وكان يشرح بجرح كبير في قلبه بسبب الحزن الذي شعر به، والذي جعله يحزن أكثر وأكثر أن الجميع ذهبه للعندليب الذي سحرهم بصوته العذب والجميل، حينها واصل الطاووس بكائه بشدة ولم يستطع أن يتجاوز هذه الأزمة أبدًا.

فكر أن يتخلص من حياته لأن الآخرون لم يعده يعجبه به. لكن في هذه اللحظة قابل رجلًا حكيم فقام الحكيم بسؤال الطاووس عن ما يحزنه. فقال الطاووس: “كان دائمًا جميع الحيوانات معجبة بي وكانوا حولي دائمًا والآن لم يعد يعجب بي أحد وأصبحوا معجبون بالعندليب عندما وجدوا أن صوته جميل. أما أنا فلم يعد يهتم بي أحد”.
قال الحكيم: ❞لقد وهب الله سبحانه وتعالى كل منا قدرة لا يمتلك الغير مثلها. لقد سمعت أن جميع الحيوانات معجبة بشكلك الجميل. وأيضًا لديك ريش جميل متعدد الألوان، لقد أعطاك الله هذه الهبة فلا تطمع فيما عند الآخرون. العندليب الله أعطاه صوتًا عذبًا وجميلًا لكن مظهره ليس بجمالك. وهكذا قسمها الله سبحانه وتعالى يجب أن لا نطمع فيما عند غيرنا. الرضا مفتاح السعادة❝.
سمع الطاووس كلام الحكيم وبسبب هذه الكلمات تغيرت حياته كلها، وحافظ على النعمة التي وهبه الله سبحانه وتعالى إياه وتعلم أن يعيش ولا يطمع فيما عند الآخرين.

بالتأكيد جميعنا يعرف هذه القصة لأن جميعنا قد تربينا عليها قصة الأرنب المغرور بسرعته الخارقة والسلحفاة البطيئة التي أعطتنا درسًا تربويا في ضرورية المواصلة في العمل الجاد مهما كانت الصعوبة.
في يوم من الأيام كان هناك أرنب مغرور بسرعته الكبيرة جدا في الجري. كان يتفاخر كل يوم أمام الحيوانات بقدراته المذهلة في الجري. وفي أحد المرات أرادت سلحفاة صغيرة أن تلقنه درسًا قاسيًا. فقامت بتحدي في أكثر شيء يتقنه وهو الجري. انذهلت جميع الحيوانات من كلام السلحفاة. إلا أن السلحفاة أصرت على ذلك ثم قال الأرنب بغرور شديد “دعوها تفعل ما تريد عندما تهزم ستتعلم كيف يمكنها أن تتحداني”.
وبالفعل أجريت المسابقة، وحدث ما كان الجميع يتوقعه بدأ الأرنب يجري بأقصى سرعته وتجاوز السلحفاة البطيئة بمسافات بعيدة جدًا، ثم قرر أن أخذ قسطًا من الراحة قبل أن يصل لخط النهاية ليعلنه الفائز.

وبهذه الطريقة تعلم الأرنب درسًا قاسيًا أن لا يستهين بخصمه مهما كان. وأن كل مرء يجب أن يفعل ما عليه ولا ينتظر الجزاء إلا من رب العباد، وأن لا يصاب بالغرور بالغرور هو أقبح الصفات التي قد تصيب أحدا على الإطلاق.
