على الرغم من الفوائد العظيمة التي يحتوي عليها زيت البرافين إلا أن الاستخدام المفرط من هذه الزيت قد ينتج عنه أضرار عكسية، لذلك لا يجب الإفراط في استخدامه كما أن استخدامه يتم وفق استشارة الطبيب، والأضرار تكون عبارة عن التهابات أو حدوث جفاف.
