- الأشقاء: عروج بربروس، إلياس بن يعقوب، إسحاق بن يعقوب.

من هو بيترو عدو عروج خير الدين بربروسا
- هو القائد بيترو لوريدان أحد النبلاء الأرستقراطيين من عائلة لوريدان، من أبرز أعداء خير الدين بربروس.
- لقبه: أدميرال البندقية والذي أصبح أحد أبطال المدينة المشهورين.
- انجازاته: هزم الأتراك العثمانيين الذين كانوا يهددون سفن البندقية في معركة حاسمة بالقرب من جاليبولي في يونيه 1416. كما مدينة البندقية تقدمت تحت على منافسيها التجاريين في البحر الأبيض المتوسط.
- كما شارك في العديد من الحملات ضد منافسيه في إيطاليا.
- وعندما تجددت الحرب بين البندقية وميلانو في 1431 تم تعيينه كقائد عام للبحر، حيث كلف بالإبحار في البحر التيراني إلا أنه لم يحقق المطلوب.
من هو عروج بربروس
- الإسم: عروج بربروس أو عروج بن أبي يوسف يعقوب التركي ويشتهر أيضا بلقب بابا عروج.
- النشأة: ولد في جزيرة ميديلي العثمانية، وعمل في شبابه في التجارة بين سلانيك وأغريبوز.
- عائلته: وهو أخو القبطان خير الدين بربروس واشتهرا بجهادهما البحري في شمال أفريقيا وسواحل البحر المتوسط إبان القرن السادس عشر الميلادي، كما أطلق عليهما لقب “ذوي اللحية الحمراء” من قبل الفرنجة.
- الميلاد والوفاة: (ولد في عام 879 هـ / 1474م – و تُوفي في عام 924 هـ الموافق- 1518م). وترك عروج بعد
- وفاته إرثاً كبيراً تمثل بإنشاء دولة قوية استمرت زهاء ثلاثة قرون.
لماذا سمي بربروس بهذا الاسم؟
- بربروس: وترجع هذه التسمية إلى الإيطالية ثم نقلت إلى اللغة العربية كما هي معربة، وبقيت متداولة حتى كادت أن تطغي على الأسماء الأصلية للأخوين.
- وهو إسم أطلق من قبل الفرنجة على الأخوين، ويكتب بعدة طرق (بربروس – بربروسا – باربروس – باربروسا) وتعنى ذا اللحية الحمراء، أو الصهباء.
