كما يقال إن أول مباراة بولو جرت كانت في عام 600 قبل الميلاد بين الفرس والتركمان باسم آخر وهو “شانجير”.
كما ارتبطت أيضا بأسماء بارزة على مدى التاريخ، فكانت تعد لعبتهم المفضلة، مثل الإسكندر، والإمبراطور الهندي ظهير الدين بابور، والخليفة العباسي المقتدر بالله، وأيضا الشاه الإيراني عباس الكبير.

تمارس هذه اللعبة على خيول تدعى البوني، فهى من أشهر الأنواع المعدلة، التي تتميز بالقامة القصيرة، فقد نجح المربون فى أوروبا عن طريق الانتحاب الصناعي، بالوصول إلى هذه السلالة، واسمها العلمي هو ( Miniature Horse ). ويكون غالبا عند طبقة النبلاء.
وهذا النوع من الخيول هو الأشهر امتطاءا فى هذه اللعبة، لتكون المحصلة النهائية فى رقعة الملعب الشاسع، أو المكان الذي يستضيف اللاعبين، فريقين وتتكون فرقة البولو الواجدة من 4 لاعبين، ويتم تغيير البوني بين كل شوط، من أصل ستة، يستغرق كل واحد منهم سبع دقائق ونصف. لأن اللعبة تعتمد بشكل كبير على الحصان الجيد بنسبة 80% كما صرح إمبراطور اللعبة الأشهر، فانكوندو بيريز فى لقائه مع شبكة CNN.
من اخترع لعبة البولو؟
مرت اللعبة بمراحل مختلفة، كان لكل مرحلة منها طور مختلف، من حيث الاكتشاف والتطور، بعد أن اكتشفها الفرس، إذ كانت جزءا من برامج التدريب على القتال، وقد تولى أيضا بعد ذلك المغول، عملية نقلها من فارس إلى الشرق، فقد عرفت فى مصر، أيام المماليك.
متى أقيمت أول مباراه للبولو؟
كانت أول مباراة مسجلة في التاريخ، كما قلنا بالأعلى، بين الفرس والتركمان في العام 600 قبل الميلاد، انتصر بها التركمان.
